Diesel Black Gold S/S 2011

HERE ARE MY FAV LOOKS FROM THE COLLECTION

Key trend for women- leather pieces with embossed texture- tan coloured foot wear- water paint prints.

Key trend for men are coloured dirty denim –scarf and cross over sandals.

Get this: Diesel had a runway show and not a single blue jean was included.

"We have a lot of blue denim in Diesel, so it's not necessary to go down this way—everybody knows we have this," Sophia Kokosalaki,

Diesel Black Gold's creative director, explained backstage. That's a bold move, but one that made for a compelling show. Kokosalaki subbed dark, dusty colors for the indigo blues, and, for the most part, leather for the denim. (It's central, she says, to the company DNA, and owner Renzo Rosso agrees.) And when Jacquelyn Jablonski tromped out in the first look—a cognac-colored leather jacket with a peplum and a thigh-grazing mini made of sewn-together leaf-like scraps that looked like nothing so much as a cowhide hula skirt— WHICH REALLY MAKES THE COLLECTION STAND OUT FROM THE REST.

BEHIND THE SCENE OF MICHAEL KORS S/S 2010

Michael Kors S/S 11
Photos: Betty Sze

Classic American dressing is something of a fashion fail safe, but Michael Kors manages to add another layer of interest to his signature style with his cheerful spring offerings. The rosy cheeked models Kors sent down the runway wore looks that merged preppy with Palm Beach kitsch; hot pink shifts and ruffled skirts with the texture of Astroturf were especially playful additions to the chic lineup. A wide array of knits, from chunky sweaters to the sheerest tops, added to the fun, as did the candy colored draped gowns seen in the finale. This wasn’t groundbreaking avant-garde fashion, but it was the kind of perfectly crafted and easy to wear clothing that is sure to connect with consumers. There is a reason Kors walked away with that CFDA lifetime achievement award earlier this year; as the resident crowd-pleaser of NYFW he always manages to inject a sense of ‬carefree fun into his clothing and his shows.

BEHIND THE SCENE OF ALEXANDER WANG S/S 2011

In the past four years Alexander Wang’s name has become nearly synonymous with a very specific look; think high heel combat boots, a short black dress and a cigarette dangling precariously from a girl’s fingertips as she hums along to a Nirvana song and you’ll be on the right track. For the generation that missed grunge the first time around, Wang brought it back sleeker than before and became a sensation in the process.

"Did you notice anything?" asked Alexander Wang at a preview earlier this week. He paused a beat. "There's no black!" That's right, New York's prince of downtown darkness is turning toward the light. "I was looking for something optimistic," he said, "something pure."

KATE-MOSS THE ONE TO WATCH

Are you ready to experience all the dimensions of Kate Moss at once? AnOther Magazine and artist Baillie Walsh take the supermodel into 3D with their latest project, KM3D-1, a special film to be premiered at the start of London Fashion Week. Moss stars as a goddess (talk about typecasting) who shatters her self-image into a million Swarovski crystals, a concept perfect for the in your face nature of 3D. This project marks a series of firsts, including the first time Swarovski’s crystals have been used in a 3D production and the first time Moss and Walsh have worked together since their epic Alexander McQueen F/W 06 hologram.
